Emo and Scene Kids Part II

emo scene hair

YES, the major difference between emos and scenesters are their attitude. But I don't believe all 'scene kids' have an original personality, as you say 'dont follow the personality'. Yea, they dont follow the emo personality. But they still have one they mostly all have.. they think highly of themselves.

Another difference is, emos are generally natured to black. Scene kids love colors. Rainbows, neon colors..anything and everything!(Although I see emos starting to like rainbows now..xD)

Another thing is the 'obsessions'. Emos love, mostly Jack Skellington, and such things as that. While Scene kids are more into the look of say, Sanrio characters, like Hello Kitty. And also, Gloomy Bear is a big thing for them.

While emos and scenes are close to each other, I think the difference is more than what it seems. It isnt just the personality, but the style too. The common thing shared among them is probably the hair. But scene hair is most definately BIGGER.xD

You should be able to tell the difference, on the spot, from an emo or a scene kid. Guys are harder to distinguish than girls most of the time. But see a guy with a lot of confidence and he seems like hed have a big mouth on him, wearing bright colors, and big sun glasses..I think its safe to assume hes 'scene'. While a guy wearing mostly black, quiet in the corner, walking slowly..well, thats emo. But even if an emo doesnt follow the personality, you can still tell them apart by the overall style.

I agree with you. Scene kids are different from emo kids. Big differences in the hair, no doubt about that.

I like your article, I think the Scene Kids are also more into all Audrey Kitching, Pink & Black combos and big big hair. Colour is the main difference as well. Check also few of these articles abour Scene Emo style:

Hey.

Some kids at school call me scene, I really don't know if I am or not, though...

I do enjoy wearing colorful hair bows and that sort of stuff, if that's what they mean...

Ah, well..

Gloomy Bear is more emo than scene.
All the "obsessions" are 2007 trends for annoying posers.
Also scene boys don't like neon colors; they just don't wear black like emo. They're more "brootal" really unless they're gay.
Emo died in like 2006, and if you still see them, they are posers that don't know what world they live in.
I do see striking differences between emo (what I saw in '06) and scene. Emo had to cover your eyes. Emo never teased hair or wore extensions. Emo never wore american apparel or hollister or forever 21 babycakes or not even those cartoony tdwp band tees, all of which are "scene" clothing. Even their music was different; emo is strictly post-hardcore while scene ranges from deathcore to electronica.
All these bows, hello kitties, and coontails are getting old and other scene kids will just make fun of you for it. The irony is the ones that are not posers don't even think or realize they're scene. You cannot simply classify yourself; labels are what other people call you.
I don't know why I even visited this website -__-

Scene is a type of emo. The only differenece is scene kids love more colors. That's the great thing about being emo is that you can express yourself in a whole bunch of different ways.
and f.y.i. emo isn't dead and people shouldn't judge people because their emo. We're people too.

Gee, why not each person have their own unique personality and style?
Thats too scary , probably.
Sorry, I know its the nature of
teens and early 20's to be part of a pack and conform to each-other,
but aren't you selling yourself short by trying to all dress and be alike?
The most interesting people have their own style - this holds true
for any age.
Don't be afraid to just be yourself, and anyone who doesn't like it - that is their problem.

You people.. emo.. emo is not a style. Emo was a type of music derived from hardcore that was mainly either accoustic or gloomy punkish. All these people that run around with this teased hair, bright ass colors and lip rings are bs. They are nothing more then the "Oh my God" preppy people that, 10 years ago, made fun of little scronny emo and hardcore kids. The crap you guys call emo now is just scenesterific pop.. you guys and with your My Chemical Romance... god. Bands like Elliot, Keepsake, Save the Day, those were emo bands.

The crap going on now is just a pop 80's throwback with your teased hair, tight pants, skin tight shirts, and freakin leg warmers for godsakes.

I remember the kids that used to get picked on in the late 90's for their short, shaggy, black, spock rock hair, and their band shirts. They sure as hell didn't wear rainbow colors.

In my opinion, all these kids doing it now are a product of pop culture and MySpace. Everyone is so absorbed with how their makeup looks and how big they can get their hair. Emo was the despressed beaten up kids, that were pissed off cause their girlfriends left them for football players.. People need to quit looking at the older people that have a similar look, like they are biting your style. The chances are good, that they were some of the people that invented it.

Emo hair is usually all black, with little or no teasing at all. Scene hair is usually a bit longer, with more teasing and layers, and colourful hair clips etc.
Sometimes scene has more eye make up.

Emo is not a style of fashion,it is not a lable, and it sure as hell is pissing me of that people think they can go around rippping the style of because its cool.It was a style of music not that crap you hear on the radio, ex: Dag Nasty,AFI(not the new stuff),The Shyness Clinic,Lunchmeat,Kingface, and The Juliana Theory. And for all the posers on the web you should be ashame of your selves because how do you think the kids that took crap from you and actually have problems in their life,How do you think we feel? you took the only thing we had left and killed it. and seriously come on the least you could do was go and tell every one your emo on the internet. Because your not real,an emo would keep there mouth shut! emo is for the tourchred, the ones have lost everything or everyone they loved. Im sure you posers can still feel and never evn contomplted suicied. you dont know what its like to fell numb inside evry moment of evry day.Im sorry, that you cant be real.

There are two different kind of emos.

1.There are the kind that actully have real situations in there life that make them sad or depressed. The kind that can't smile. The ones that aren't dressing like this for the glamor or attention. The real emo kids!

And then there are the kind that make up lame excuses to seem like they have a real problem when they don't. All they want is the big hair, the clotes, b.c they think it looks good. So, they act all sad when it's just a big joke! They want the attention and glammor. They do it for respect.

Being emo seems to be the new thing nowadays. Well, im 15 and I see lots of differnet styles.
Emo
Scene
Prep
Gangster
Normal
Redneck
rocker..
Exetera...

Well, i say just be yourself. If you wanna have big hair and stuff like that without being emo. Dont make yourself seem emo. Just be you and thats your style. Your personality makes you. Not your looks. That what the orignal emos are about. They have a gloomy personality so they dress gloomy. Thats what makes them. If you want to put on a dress and cute shoes. Do it! Don't let anybody call you a prep!
If you feel like having big hair, tight shirts, converses..So be it! Don't let people cal you an emo unless you feel you are emo.
If you want to wear baggy clothes, baggy shirts, nice bing and stuff. Do it. Who cares if they call you Gangster!
Dont let ppl label you!
To be honest? In my school the new thing for the guys. is wearing cowboy boots with basketball shorts. They want to seem redneck! lol.

Honestly, I don't understand the hate going towards the punk/scene crowd in here. I've seen some that annoy the hell out of me, but my entire life, I've been listening to Green Day, Nirvana, Blink 182, Taking Back Sunday, etc. and I've been called Goth Boy, then Emo Shit, then Fag. Some of the kids that called me that are now trying to dress like me due to trends, and are suddenly acting like they love me. And then you guys come along and classify me as one of them, because the style changed a bit, and you're using it as a new thing to be pissed off at? Damn, get a life.
I guess this is what I get for looking for highlight examples >.>

It's not about the word that people use to describe the style (I'm talking fashion here, not music) but how it looks and more important how it makes you feel!!!

An outfit should make you feel special and gorgeous. I personally like the "scene and emo" styles.

Oh and for these who said that these who wear this style are preppy-posers, I must say I disagree. Preps are completely dif.

Umm,, emoo... emo is short for emotionalll, labeling those who are emotional. its not a style, its a state of minnd. you could be sadd and depresssed and still wear, like or dislike regular and completely normal everyday things. okkayy?

thats just my opinonn. most of my friendss agree with mee though.
