How do you imagine yourself ten years from now?
Funny comment from a reader:
This is SO interesting. I'm an "old lady" by anyone's standards posting on this site. I was curious about this whole "emo" and "scene" thing as my niece has recently changed her look and style pretty drastically.
In some ways, in reading all these posts, I can only laugh... But the majority, I can totally relate to, appreciate, (and sigh!... remember) what it was like growing up, ESPECIALLY "coming of age" through the **`70's!** and partying even harder through the `80's (guess that tells you how really ancient I am..LOL)
...Anyway, we had the same diverse groups and identities, just with different names or interests than you do today. I'm sure it was all a little more "regionally" based back in my day too. We didn't have, or couldn't even fathom the the incredible technology available that you all have at your fingertips today. ("gasp"...Imagine to your horror, no cell phones, im, texting, ipods, video games, computers, internet etc..hell, even microwaves weren't really even around when i was in middle and high school)
...OK, all this "banter' is to prove my point. Styles, tastes, and interests change multiple,multiple, multiple times during your life. Enjoy it all while you're young, and hopefully have the sense to maintain your individuality and "morality", through out it all. Stay safe, show tolerance, and don't judge one another too harshly. Years from now when you're a wise, (but still cool!) aunt/parent etc. like me, you can look back at all the "stages" and decades of your life, and die of embarrassment, and laugh at yourself, on some of what you once thought was so cutting edge or cool!21 comments

people consider me an emo scenester, and i don't like to call myself anything specific, because i'm not a group poser - The one thing i'm concerned about speeking of 10 years from now, is godamn hairloss - i wonder if in 10 years all the emo kids now will be bald. That would suck like hell. Do you think it'd be better to get a wig, implants, or to just keep it bald? I'm only 16 now aha. But it worries me.
Thanks.

Haha, I guess you emo tards have NO IDEA how stupid you look to most people. I'm not a judgmental person, in fact I would probably be considered a freak, but even i have standards. You can look different without looking like a total stupid piece of crap, and no offense, but while the clothes are ok, the hair is HORRIBLE. Seriously. What are you people thinking? And emo guys....being 95lbs and prissy and girly is SO not hot. Unless you don't want to attract women (and I bet you don't). What I don't get is how you all think you are so unique and different, yet you all dress the same. You are no different than the stupid preppy Abercrombie-wearing jerks, you follow the herd mentality too, just your herd is into stupid-looking hair, girl jeans, and being pasty and ill looking. But hey, I guess whatever you wanna do...but I do imagine you will look back in 10 years and be like "OMG, I looked like a total douchebag! What WAS I thinking??". But that's part of life, so whatever. Oh yeah, I am not that old, only 26, but I sure don't get the whole emo thing. But carry on, do your thing, I just wish you guys would knock it off with the terrible hair. Just a suggestion!

Wow!
And the 2nd comment above mine, chill out, it's only a trend. Most likely it'll be replaced before you know it with something far worse xD

i thuink of my self ten years from now as a 22 year old girl whos preppy instead of emo lol

Oh wow, I really like the dude you posted that comment up there^^ He is right, because you ALL want to be different, that you look the same 0.0 It actually makes me laugh how much you want to be different. I'm not a prep, thank the lord, or emo, or scene, not even punk... i THINK they call me skater, sometimes bitch. Haha. I like that, its funny. But anyways... the hairstyle is kind of cute... but the "razors are cool" and the "Everyone else is a loser but me" or whatever, gets pretty annoying. And harsh. Wanna be different? Why not stand up for yourself and one day NOT WEAR BLACK AND PINK. And maybe another day, wear braids in your hair. Or pig tails. God i hate pig tails. But only on me ^_^
Or instead of wearing converse LIKE EVERYONE (caps are fun :]) why not were some Vans, DC, or Puma, LA Gear. I mean, change your own style in a unique way instead of everyone else's style. Hopefully you don't start wearing Ronald Mcdonald stockings, or hooker boots like those one days.. (girls in 8th grade did that and said it was "emo") me and the guys were laughing our heads off. But yea, i guess my point to say is, live life differently- but however you want to live it. We cool? *e-hug* Ok, now buy a skate board and lets boogy! RAWR! xD o.0 im weird D;
:]
